January 17, 2005
Hello,
We had a great time this past weekend. It was our first long weekend out in 2005 and we enjoyed seeing some old friends. We played 2 days at Hoofers Gospel Barn in LaGrange GA and had time to jam and visit with The Isaacs, The Primitive Quartet and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. All of these bands have helped NFR in many ways and we have the utmost respect for all of them. I always enjoy playing at Hoofers; their hospitality at this venue is unsurpassed which makes for a stress free and relaxed atmosphere. And doesn't hurt that the food there is great. From Hoofers we traveled to Asheville, NC and played at a concert hall called The Orange Peel. Again, their hospitality was tremendous and the crowd was very pleasant and seemed to enjoy our set a lot. I know the we sure enjoyed ourselves and hope to go back soon.
I guess one of the reasons we had such a great time this past weekend is because we took a fiddle player out with us. His name is Justin Moses and he's a truly phenomenal musician. As well as playing a mean fiddle, he plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass and dobro. What a great talent. Justin is probably the most quiet/laid back person I've ever met. His personality is a contrast to the rest of the band, but it's kinda nice to have a laid back person mixed in with the extrovert personality of Jr. for example. He will be with us this coming Friday night at the Moreau Center in South Bend, IN. Come out and see us if you can. You can call 574-284-4626 for ticket information. We'll be there along with The Lewis Family.
Thanks to all of you who spoke with us this past weekend in GA and NC. We love to meet new friends and your words of encouragement are invaluable. Also, a great big thanks to all who've signed our guest book in the past. We certainly appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Sincerely,
Tim Caudill
